I'm just one of the out-of-focus guys

I love movies in general, but music films are definitely my favourite and the most common of my DVD purchases. I'll only buy films I can watch over and over again, and I find this genre lends itself to this quite nicely.

Movies about music just seem to draw me in, in a more compulsive or sentimental way. I mean, who doesn't think about the bus scene in Almost Famous every time they hear Tiny Dancer?

Smarties in my Popcorn

Follow Me on Pinterest
I find it curious that with so many 'sweet and salty' lovers out there, I still get sideways glances at the movies whilst enjoying Smarties in my popcorn (or M&M's for my American friends). I mean, seriously, what's not to love?
This has been my favourite movie snack for years. I would get 'kiddie combos' at the theatre because popcorn bores me after a few handfuls, I barely drink pop and they came with a 'snack' size chocolate treat.

Oh my Darlings, it's Chelsea Time

In a cavern, in a canyon,
excavating for some rock
Dwelt a band of filthy heathens
singing songs about their ... frocks
Oh my Darling, Oh my Darling,
Oh my Darlings it's Chelsea time
They were gone what seemed forever
Now they're back for Chelsea time

Superstition is a Currency - Dig Devil Dig

I love words almost as much as I love music - quelle surprise, oui?! I love talking, I love singing, I love writing (much to the chagrin of a few I'm certain). Nothing makes me happier than a well-placed phrase, a subtle inflection, a beautiful string of words or a clever metaphor. Especially when these words are embedded in a gorgeous catchy song, which brings me to the band de jour.

They're Incendiary too, man - The HandGrenades

You know those nights when the opening band at a show just blows your mind and you're eternally grateful you showed up early? Yes? Moi aussi! It doesn't happen nearly as often as I'd like, but last Friday at Call The Office was one of those nights.

They're called The HandGrenades , they're from Detroit, and they are brilliant. Unabashed indie rock goodness. Catchy hooks, heavy melodies and three part harmonies that come out of nowhere and breathe new life into a scene that's been gasping for air.
